Moving farther up north, we have Jenuine Catahoulas located in New Jersey. The breeder behind the business is Jenne Black, and she is an NALC registered Catahoula breeder.

As opposed to the last breeder we mentioned, at Jenuine Catahoulas, the main focus is breeding dogs with ideal temperament and conformation.

4. Sterling Springs Ranch

In addition to being a Catahoula Leopard Dog breeding facility, Sterling Springs Ranch breeds registered Gyspy Vanner horses and uses them in their therapeutic horseback riding and lessons program.

They only have two breeding dogs, one dam and one sire and typically limit their litters to one per year or less. Due to this, if you would like a puppy, it is highly recommended that you get on the waiting list early, so you do not miss out on one of their litters.

To purchase a puppy, you will be required to go through an interview process and sign a contract with the breeder.

The dam and sire are NALC registered and are active farm dogs. The farm environment will ensure that your puppies come home well socialized and ready to adjust to whatever life you have waiting for them.

They do not currently have any litters planned for the rest of 2021 but will likely have some in 2022. If you are looking for a great small scale breeder to purchase from that still possesses champion bloodlines, Sterline Springs Ranch may be a great option for you and your family.

You cannot know for sure how many puppies will be born, so even if you’ve paid the deposit, you cannot be guaranteed a puppy.

Are Catahoula Leopard Dogs good family dogs?

Yes, if they receive proper exercise then they can be fantastic family dogs and tend to be very protective of their family members. One thing to consider is that Catahoulas are very large so they may not be a great fit for small children who they may inadvertently injure.

How do I tell if a breeder is a good breeder?

The best way to determine if a breeder is a good breeder is by speaking with previous customers. They will be able to let you know exactly what it was like to work with that breeder and whether or not they ran into any issues. Another simple one is that the breeder should be registered under some club or association and should proudly display that registration.

What is the average price of a Catahoula puppy?

This is going to greatly depend on where you are purchasing your puppy and what bloodlines they are coming from. However, the price generally ranges from about $500 to $1,500.
